A1 exam slots gone in minutes? Plan for the wait ⏳
In several countries, A1 and other Goethe exam slots are very hard to get. A 2025 petition from learners in India describes seats disappearing within minutes after registration opens. Some said they failed to get a seat on their first try. Some paid intermediaries, or travelled to another state for a free seat. What partners abroad say helps: · Know the exact date and time registration opens at your centre, and have your details ready. · Try more than one centre, including partner centres in other cities. · German missions commonly list telc's Start Deutsch 1 and ÖSD's A1 exam as well as Goethe's. Check your embassy's list and which providers test in your country. · Don't pay unofficial agents. Book only through the official provider. Use the wait well: · Start learning before you have a date. The Goethe page mentions about 160 lessons for A1. · Practise the speaking part with others: in the exam you are in a group of up to four people. · Put the visa steps in parallel: documents, translations, embassy appointment. And ask your embassy about the exceptions: spouses of skilled workers, for example, don't need A1 before entry.
