DTZ listening: you hear each text only once 🎧
In the DTZ all listening texts are played once (g.a.s.t.). There are four parts and 20 questions in about 25 minutes: short announcements and phone messages, conversations, and people giving their opinion on a topic. What prep sites and learners advise: · Don't translate in your head. Listen for the main idea and the one detail the question asks for. · Read the question before the audio starts, and underline the key word: a time, a place, a price, a yes/no. · If you miss one, mark your best guess and move on. Thinking about the last question costs you the next one. · Phone messages and station announcements repeat the important information in different words: listen for the second version. How to practise at home: · Voicemail-style practice: ask a friend to leave you short German voice messages with a time and a place. · Listen once to a short news item or podcast clip, write down three facts, then listen again to check. · Train with official sample material and do it strictly once, as in the exam. Listening is part of the Hören/Lesen score (45 points together). For a B1 you need B1 in speaking plus B1 in either Hören/Lesen or Schreiben.
