Inside an Integrationskurs: what the classroom is really like 🏫
Former participants describe a few things that surprised them. A mixed class People come from many countries and backgrounds. In one learner's class, most classmates spoke no English, so German was the only shared language. Awkward at first, but it forced everyone to speak. Role plays Lessons are very practical: one day you are a shop assistant, the next a waiter or a patient. These situations come back in the DTZ speaking exam. What made the difference · Practising with classmates for about 30 minutes a day outside class · Doing the homework the same evening, not the night before · Using the free afternoons (with a morning course) to review After the course The same learner found a small part-time job within about a year. He credited the course with giving him the confidence to apply. Tips from others: · Sit next to someone who doesn't share your language. · Make a small WhatsApp group with classmates and write only in German. · The Orientierungskurs part (law, history, society) is also the preparation for Leben in Deutschland. Take notes there too. Sources: https://liveingermany.de/integration-course-in-germany/ · https://www.iamexpat.de/expat-info/citizenship-integration/german-integration-course
