15 or 17 out of 33? Which number counts for you 🔢
Learners often confuse the two tests because they use the same questions. The difference is in what you need them for. Leben in Deutschland (LiD) · Taken at the end of the Orientierungskurs in the Integrationskurs. · You pass with at least 15 of 33 correct. · But: with 17 or more correct, LiD also covers the knowledge requirement for naturalisation (BAMF). Einbürgerungstest · Booked separately via your Einbürgerungsbehörde / a test centre, €25. · You need at least 17 of 33. What this means in practice · In the Integrationskurs, aim for 17, not 15. Then you don't need a second test later if you apply for citizenship. · DTZ at B1 plus a passed LiD gives you the "Zertifikat Integrationskurs". · One community guide advises checking with your Ausländerbehörde which certificates they want in your case. Requirements in practice can vary by office. Some people don't need the test at all, for example with a German school-leaving certificate. Ask your authority before booking.
