Einbürgerungstest done: waiting for the letter 📨
On the day · Paper test, 33 multiple-choice questions, 60 minutes. · Prepared candidates often finish very early. One learner in Stuttgart said she needed about five minutes; a guide says around 15 minutes is common. · No phones, no aids. Bring ID and the documents your centre asks for. After the test · BAMF marks the tests centrally and sends the certificate (Bescheinigung) by post. There is no online result. · Reported waiting times vary a lot: about four to six weeks in one account, "4 to 12 weeks" in a Munich guide, about three months in another. · The Hamburg VHS notes that BAMF publishes weekly updates on which exam dates it has processed. Learners' tips · Keep your address up to date. A move after the test can delay the letter. · Don't wait for the result to prepare other documents for your naturalisation file. · Keep the original certificate safe. One applicant used a test certificate from 2021 in a 2024 application. If you got fewer than 17 correct you can take it again (and pay again).
