Is Duolingo enough for the exam? Learners disagree 📱
This question appears in almost every learner community. The answers are mixed, and that is useful to know. Positive experiences: · A good, low-pressure start for absolute beginners, a few minutes a day. · Helps build a daily habit. Several people who passed used it next to other study. Critical experiences: · One learner cancelled after the trial because it felt repetitive and too far from real-life Dutch. · Another kept it but stopped prioritising it once exam preparation started. · App sentences are short and often not the kind of text you meet in the exam. What most successful learners combined it with: · Official practice exams to learn the format. · A course, a tutor or a conversation partner for speaking and writing feedback. · Real input: easy news, children's programmes, books. Our summary: an app can be a nice warm-up, but nobody in the discussions we read passed on an app alone. Use it as one tool, and make sure you also practise writing full texts and speaking out loud.
