Your Dutch partner as a coach — without the fights 💬
Many learners have a Dutch-speaking partner, and it's a big advantage. Several people who passed credit their partner for checking their speaking and writing, or for inventing practice tasks. But learners also admit that getting criticism from someone you love is not always easy. What worked for learners: · Fixed practice moments, for example Dutch only during dinner. One learner went from basic phrases to simple conversations this way, next to a small class. · A clear role: "correct my exam text" is different from "correct everything I say all day". · Creative practice: one partner made pictures and asked for a story about them, like an exam task. Rules that make it easier: · Agree how many corrections per session (for example three). · Corrections at the end, not in the middle of a sentence. · Switch roles sometimes: teach your partner a word in your language. · If it gets tense, stop and continue tomorrow. A tutor for the formal part and your partner for daily talk is a good split.
