Who is Défi actuel 2 for?
Défi actuel 2 is the A2 level of the Défi course by Éditions Maison des Langues, in its hybrid edition of April 2025 (printed book plus digital access to the interactive book). It follows Défi actuel 1 and is written for adults who already know basic French and want to reach the A2 level of the Common European Framework, the level of the DELF A2 — accepted in France as proof of A2 for a first multi-year residence card.
What the book covers
- Units built around French and francophone culture, not only grammar tables.
- Grammar discovered from examples (inductive approach), with short rules after the exercises.
- Phonetics: sounds and intonation, with audio.
- DELF preparation: tasks in the format of the DELF A2.
- Digital access to the interactive version of the book.
How to use it for the DELF A2
The DELF A2 has four parts: listening, reading, writing and speaking. A good rhythm is one unit per week from the book, plus short practice in the exam format: reading and listening questions with the answer explained, one short message or letter per week, and a few minutes of speaking aloud about everyday topics.
Free practice: EUpassway has free DELF A2 practice with answers and explanations, a DELF A2 exam guide (parts, timing, scoring) and A2 French vocabulary with audio. No account needed.
Is there a free PDF?
The book is published by Éditions Maison des Langues and protected by copyright; EUpassway does not share PDF copies, and downloads offered elsewhere are usually illegal copies. The publisher provides the digital version with the book. For free material, use the official DELF sample papers from France Éducation international, which are linked in our DELF A2 guide.
