Who is Nederlands in gang for?
Nederlands in gang (Boom, revised edition of June 2026, by Berna de Boer, Margaret van der Kamp and Simone Pentermann) is a communicative beginner course for highly educated learners. In 16 chapters it takes you from no Dutch to the A2 level, the level of the inburgeringsexamen A2. The publisher recommends using it in a class or with study partners rather than completely on your own.

How to use it for the inburgeringsexamen A2
The book teaches the language; the exam asks you to show it in DUO's format (Lezen, Luisteren, Schrijven on paper, Spreken, plus KNM). A good rhythm is one chapter a week, and from about chapter 8 on also short practice in the exam format: reading and listening questions with the answer explained, one short letter or form by hand per week, and the KNM themes.
