Who is Welkom in Nederland for?
Welkom in Nederland (Boom, by Marilene Gathier; revised edition) is a course book for KNM, Knowledge of Dutch Society, part of the Dutch civic integration exam. It is written in simple Dutch at about A2 level, so you practise the language while you learn how things work in the Netherlands.
What the book covers
The book is organised in themes that match the KNM exam, from health care and housing to work and the Dutch state. KNM asks practical questions about situations in daily life, so a theme-by-theme book helps you learn the words and the rules together.
How to use it for the KNM exam
- Read one theme a week and write down the new words.
- After each theme, answer practice questions on the same theme and read why an answer is right or wrong.
- Before the exam, take a full KNM simulation under time pressure, then redo your mistakes.
Free practice: EUpassway has free KNM practice per theme with explanations, full KNM simulations, a KNM exam guide with the official facts, and short A2 readings on life in the Netherlands (the GP, school, renting, the municipality, tax and work).
Is there a free PDF?
The book is published by Boom and protected by copyright; EUpassway does not share PDF copies. Free official information about KNM is on inburgeren.nl (DUO), which our KNM guide links to.
