DELE A2: the language diploma for nationality, test by test 📋
For Spanish nationality by residence, the Instituto Cervantes lists two tests: the DELE A2 or higher, and the CCSE (the civic test). This note covers the DELE A2. The official format: · Reading: 60 minutes, 4 tasks, 25 items · Listening: 40 minutes, 4 tasks, 25 items · Writing: 45 minutes, 2 tasks · Speaking: 12 minutes, plus 12 minutes to prepare, 3 tasks Each test gives up to 25 points (100 in total). To be APTO you need the required score in each group of tests, so one very strong skill cannot fully hide a very weak one. What this means in practice: · Reading is the longest part. Train with a timer. · Writing has two short texts. Practise messages, emails and short descriptions. · If you fail, you register again and repeat the whole exam, not just one part. Good news: the DELE has indefinite validity, so once you have your A2 it does not expire.
