Applying for nationality online: the steps in order 📂
The Ministry of Justice lets you submit your nationality by residence application online through its sede electrónica. A sensible order: 1. Pass the DELE A2 (or have your exemption) and the CCSE. Keep both certificates. 2. Get a digital identity: a digital certificate or Cl@ve. You also need the AutoFirma application to sign. 3. Collect documents: birth certificate, criminal record certificate from your country, certificado de empadronamiento and the rest listed on the sede page. Foreign documents may need legalisation and a sworn translation. 4. Pay the fee (tasa) with form 790, code 026. The Ministry currently gives the amount as 104.05 euros; check it on the day you pay. 5. Start the online application. Once created, you have two months to complete it. 6. Follow your file with the online status check. 7. If approved, you complete the oath or promise (jura/promesa), at the Civil Registry or before a notary. You can also act through a representative with proper authorisation.
