ANEF: living with the online residence portal 🖥️
Most residence-card procedures in France now go through the ANEF, the Ministry of the Interior's online portal for foreigners (administration-etrangers-en-france.interieur.gouv.fr). Tips people share: · Prepare clear PDF scans before you start: passport, current card, proof of address, your language attestation and civic-exam attestation. Name the files clearly. · Save your login details somewhere safe. You will come back to the account many times. · Download every document the portal gives you and keep a copy. Know your documents: the Ministry explains that an attestation de dépôt only confirms that you submitted a request; it does not prove legal residence. An attestation de prolongation d'instruction is issued when your card expires during processing. For a renewal it keeps your previous rights, such as working; for a first application it proves regular stay but not the right to work or travel in Schengen. If the portal shows an error for days, contact your préfecture through the channel listed on its website and keep screenshots with dates.
