OFII and the CIR: use the free training, it counts later 🤝
When you receive your first residence permit, you usually sign the contrat d'intégration républicaine (CIR) with the State. Service-public describes what happens: · An individual interview with the OFII, with the contract in your language. · A written and oral French test. If your level is below A2, a free French course is prescribed (service-public mentions 600 hours). · A free civic training of 24 hours in four sessions. Why take it seriously: · Attending the prescribed training and answering OFII summons are obligations of the contract. If the contract is ended, you cannot get a multi-year card, only a limited number of yearly renewals. · The civic training covers exactly the themes of the examen civique. · The free course is often the cheapest way to reach A2. Learner tips: tell the OFII early if your work hours clash with the course schedule, keep every attendance certificate, and ask your teacher which exam (DELF A2, TCF, TEF) the class prepares for.
