The final week before your exam: a checklist 🗓️
Learners' advice for the last days before the exam is surprisingly practical. A combined list: Five to seven days before: · One full timed practice exam of the part(s) you will take. · Review your list of recurring mistakes, not new grammar. · Reread your phrase bank for writing and speaking. Two to three days before: · Check the route and travel time to the exam location. Plan to arrive early; one learner advised about 30 minutes. · Check your ID is valid, and find your invitation letter. · Staatsexamen Lezen/Schrijven: put the Van Dale Pocketwoordenboek NT2 in your bag. The day before: · Light practice only: a podcast, reading a few pages. · Sleep. Several people describe the exam day as more tiring than expected. On the day: · Eat something, bring water in a closed bottle. · Speak a few Dutch sentences on the way to wake up your Dutch. · Some learners start with the question they find easiest to build confidence. After: don't analyse every answer. Write down what felt hard, as input for a possible retake, and then rest.
