Write a little every day, get it corrected once a week ✍️
Writing is often the skill learners practise least, and it shows in the exam. A simple method one self-learner used: a free daily journal in Dutch, without worrying about mistakes, and a weekly session with a tutor to go through the errors. Why it works: · Daily writing makes you find words and build sentences without help. · Weekly correction shows you your recurring mistakes. · You get a record of progress: compare week 1 with week 10. How to set it up: · 5–10 sentences a day. Topics: what I did, what I plan, something I saw. · Once a week, pick one entry and write it again as an exam task: a message to a neighbour, an email to a school. · Get feedback from a tutor, a teacher, a language buddy or a partner. Ask them to mark only the most important errors. Other learners used messaging instead: texting Dutch friends or family only in Dutch. Short, real and with a reader waiting for your answer. Keep your corrected texts. Before the exam, reread them: they are your personal list of traps.
