Learning Dutch and passing the exam are two different goals 🎯
One learner who went from almost zero to passing the integration exams put it like this: treat "learning the language" and "passing the exams" as two separate goals. They are connected, but they need different kinds of work. Learning Dutch (long-term): · Lots of input: news, series, books, conversations. · Speaking with real people, making mistakes. · Building vocabulary and grammar slowly. Passing the exam (short-term): · Knowing the format: which tasks, how many minutes, what counts. · Practising the typical situations: a short message, an appointment, a complaint. · Time management and checking your answers. Why it matters: · Some learners speak quite well but fail because they don't know the format. · Others pass the exam but still can't follow a conversation at a birthday. A practical mix: most weeks, spend the majority of your time on the language and a smaller part on exam training. In the last weeks before the exam, turn that around. After passing, go back to "just learning" — several people say that is where the real progress starts.
