Who is Défi actuel 3 for?
Défi actuel 3 is the B1 level of the Défi course by Éditions Maison des Langues, in its hybrid edition of October 2025 (printed book plus digital access to the interactive book). It is written for adults who are comfortable at A2 and want to reach B1, the level of the DELF B1. In France a DELF B1 is accepted as proof of B1 for a first resident card (carte de résident); naturalisation asks for B2.

How to use it for the DELF B1
At B1 the exam asks you to give and defend an opinion, in writing and when speaking. A good rhythm is one unit per week from the book, plus practice in the exam format: reading and listening questions with the answer explained, one short opinion text per week, and a short spoken monologue on a topic from the news.
