For the Integrationskurs you need at least 15 of 33 correct. For naturalisation you need at least 17 of 33.[2]

LiD with 17+ counts for naturalisation

LiD and Einbürgerungstest use the same catalogue. 17 or more correct answers in LiD also prove the civic knowledge needed for naturalisation (StAG §10).[2]

Pass LiD and reach B1 in the DTZ, and you get the Zertifikat Integrationskurs.[2]

Result certificate

After the Einbürgerungstest BAMF sends you a certificate (Bescheinigung) of your personal result. In September 2026 BAMF said it was evaluating tests up to exam date 2026-07-09.[3]

No Einbürgerungstest if you have a German school-leaving certificate (Schulabschluss), or if illness, disability or age make it impossible.[3]

    New citizenship law in force since 2024-06-27; the test (≥ 17 of 33) remains the usual proof of civic knowledge.[7]
